1 The Vikings are the only undefeated team in the NFL
They traded their future first round pick to the eagles for Sam Bradford (quarterback) after losing both Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson. They sit at 5-0 and now take on the Eagles, where they are hoping to continue the momentum. The Eagles have also started the season well, so it has been a win-win for both sides.
2 Dallas Cowboys staying strong without Tony Romo
As we told you last month, they are starting Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, and they are 5-1. The only game they lost was because their WR Terrance Williams ran the wrong way, preventing a game winning field goal. Tony Romo is expected to be back and healthy in a few weeks, so it’ll be interesting to see what the Cowboys do at QB.
3 Colin Kaepernick is starting for the 49ers again
As you might have heard, he’s the one who started the kneeling protest during the national anthem. He has definitely been in the spotlight, and it will be interesting to see how he also plays on the field This has influenced protests and signs of solidarity among teams and player in other leagues as well.
Looking ahead to Week 8
1 The Giants have been all over the sports media
Their wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has come under fire because of his emotional antics – being very physical with opponents, throwing tantrums, drawing penalties– and the coaches have not welcomed that and have told him to control it. But Odell is a great player so they put up with it on the football field.
Off the field, Josh Brown recently admitted to committing domestic abuse on his wife. The NFL has typically had a no tolerance policy on this, and kicked Ray Rice out immediately. But the team and the league has come under fire because new evidence shows that they knew about this abuse long before. Brown actually had journal entries about it and he had talked to the team and the league about it.
It exposes the hypocrisy in the NFL by allowing him to keep playing. Some have speculated that this is due to race, since Brown is white, he was treated differently from Ray Rice who is black and who was immediately kicked off. The NFL has even started fining people for celebrating touchdowns, but they still allow Brown to continue playing, which has not gone over well with fans.
2 In Pittsburgh, Ben Roethlisberger is out with another knee sprain
He complained that a Miami Dolphin player, Ndamukong Suh, kicked him, but Suh was not fined and Roethlisberger is out for the next few weeks. We suggest Dak Prescott if you need a replacement quarterback. What about Antonio Brown? Antonio Brown has been underwhelming this year. Roethlisberger’s backup is Landry Jones, who is not really that good. Fantasy owners can’t afford to bench Antonio Brown because he’s so talented.
3 For the Packers, Eddie Lacey and his backup James Starks are both out
For fantasy, the packers have used their wide receiver Ty Montgomery in many different ways. If you’re looking for a running back, they just traded for Knile Davis, so we will have to see how they use him.
